Interesting take. Well, yeah, definitely been seeing more of it too. And “just disable plugins one by one” is such lazy advice, honestly. Half the time the thing breaking isn’t even the plugin you’d suspect — it’s some stupid interaction after an update, or cache, or cron, or whatever other mess is sitting under the hood. At least lately. Obviously.

Right… In my opinion, yeah, same crap here. Not a clean drop, just that stupid flip-flop where you start wondering if Google’s just bored Honestly,. And no, I don’t buy the “it’s just volatility” handwave every time either.

Yeah, I’ve had that exact “everything looks normal except traffic is in the toilet” thing and it’s maddening. Honestly I wouldn’t trust GSC too much day to day right after an update. It can look like a disaster for a bit and then half of it was just Google being weird. I mean, That said, if it keeps sliding instead of flattening out, I’d start suspecting crawl/rendering stuff before blaming the content itself. Also, “same plugins” is a bit of a trap. One update and suddenly your cache or headers are behaving differently even if nothing *looks* broken. I’ve had that happen on a couple sites and it was annoying as hell because everything passed the eyeball test. If it were me I’d watch server logs and see if Googlebot’s still showing up normally. If it is, then I’d be less panicked. If not… yeah, then something’s off.

Sure. Honestly, yeah, seeing that too. Couple of my pages didn’t really “drop” in the normal sense, but they just stopped getting pulled into those AI summaries like they used to. Same old Google nonsense where nothing’s technically broken, but the visibility just quietly gets kneecapped anyway. Feels less like a ranking issue and more like they’re being way pickier about what they’ll surface. Which is great, obviously, if you enjoy guessing games.

Yeah, I’m seeing it too, and it’s getting old fast. Feels like every update is a coin flip now. Not even the “bad” plugins sometimes — it’s the random stuff you’d never suspect. At least lately.

I mean, yeah, same here on one of mine. Money pages got smacked first, then a couple random info pages did the little “oops maybe not” recovery dance. At this point I’m not even pretending it’s a site-specific mystery unless something obvious broke. Google just loves doing that thing where it burns the commercial stuff and then acts like it was “refining quality” or whatever. Classic nonsense.

Yeah, I’d call it a wave too. Been getting the same garbage here — new accounts, same style of dumb first post, then a link or two if they think nobody’s watching. Honestly the weird part is how lazy it’s gotten. They don’t even change much anymore, just different names and the same spammy nonsense. If it’s only been a couple days I wouldn’t panic, but I’d keep an eye on registration + first post filters because if they found a hole they’ll keep hammering it. Mason’s probably gonna say “it’s always like this” again, but nah, some weeks are definitely worse than others.

Interesting take. Kind of feels like yeah, same garbage here. Crawl’s happening, index is still acting like it’s on lunch break unless the page already has some weird built-in trust or whatever. The “random trash gets in fast” part is……

in reply to: Google update or just my site acting up? #4240

Honestly, Honestly, yeah, I’d still be looking at the boring stuff first before blaming an update. If GSC is mostly flat and it’s just a bunch of pages that stopped moving, that usually feels more like something on-site than some giant Google event. Kind of feels like I’ve had drops that looked “algorithmic” and it ended up being dumb stuff like a template change, internal links getting stripped, or one section getting messed up by canonicals. Super annoying, because it *looks* like a broad hit. If impressions are still there but clicks died, I’d be side-eyeing snippets / SERP junk more than anything. If impressions fell too, then yeah, maybe something actually shifted. I dunno, I’ve been burned enough times chasing “updates” when it was just my own site acting up. Google loves the drama, but sometimes it’s just us.

Honestly, yeah, I’m seeing a bump too. Not insane, just enough to be annoying, which is somehow worse. Could be the update, could be the usual bot crap shifting around like Pike said. Hard to tell until it either settles down or doesn’t.

Interesting take. Honestly, yeah, same here. One site got hammered, one barely moved, and another’s just doing that lovely slow bleed thing. At this point I don’t even try to read the “quality update” tea leaves anymore. Half the time it feels like they just spin a wheel and call it intent. Right…

I mean, yeah, that’s been my experience too — usually it’s not some genius attack, just a dumb wave of junk accounts. I’d honestly just tighten first-post moderation before turning the…

Okay then. Yeah, same old circus. One day it’s flat, next day it’s a cliff, then it half-recovers like Google wants a medal for not being completely useless. I’m not even bothering with the “content quality” sermon anymore either. That gets trotted… Interesting take.

Kind of feels like yeah, I’m seeing weirdness too, but I’m not convinced it’s just “wait a few days and chill” either. One of mine did the same thing last month and it wasn’t GSC being drunk, it was one page getting quietly shoved down for a bunch of queries while impressions stayed inflated. Super annoying to spot unless you actually dig into the page/query split like Den said, which, yeah, nobody wants to do at 11pm.

Well, yeah, same garbage here. One site gets pages in almost immediately, another one just sits there like it’s waiting for permission from a wizard. And the “good” pages taking a hit after they finally show up is the part that really makes you want to laugh. Google’s been doing that lovely thing where it acts like it’s smart while making no sense at all. Just my experience. Okay then.
