DenParticipantSeeing way more junk signups and comment spam this week than usual. Not sure if it’s the update or just bad timing, but it’s annoying as hell. Anyone else noticing this?. That’s been my experience anyway.

DenParticipantWell, yeah, we’ve seen a bump in junk signups too. Could be the update, could just be the usual bot crap getting a little more aggressive this week. I’ve tightened the basic filters and it helped some, but not completely. If it keeps up, I’d start looking at the signup form and comment settings first before blaming Google for everything.

ParticipantYeah, we saw the same thing on a couple client sites. Not huge, but enough to be annoying. Honestly could just be bot traffic getting dumber/more aggressive again, but I wouldn’t be shocked if the update changed how some junk gets through the cracks. The comment spam especially feels like it comes in waves for no reason.

ParticipantYeah, seeing the same on a couple installs. Not crazy numbers, just enough to be annoying. Could be the update, could just be bot junk shifting around again. Either way the spam always seems to spike right when you don’t need another thing to babysit.

ParticipantIn most cases, from what I’ve seen, yeah, seen it too. Not huge, but enough to be annoying as hell Usually,. Could be the update, could just be bot waves doing their usual garbage. Either way it’s been a pain this week.

ParticipantYeah, same here. Not massive, just enough junk to make the week annoying. Feels like the usual bot soup got a little more aggressive, but I wouldn’t put it past Google to have kicked something loose too. Either way, it’s the same old mess on the server side.

pixelwitchParticipantI mean, yeah, same here. Not huge, just obnoxious enough to notice. I’ve had a couple sites where the comment spam suddenly got dumber and more frequent at the same time, which is always fun. Could be the update, could be bot junk shifting around like usual. Either way it’s another stupid thing to babysit.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen the same crap. Not enough to scream “the sky is falling,” but enough that it’s clearly not just your site being weird. Bot junk always seems to get a little bolder right after some update and then everybody starts pretending it’s “just timing.” Sure. If it keeps up another week I’d bet it’s not random. From what I see, Personally,

PikeParticipantYeah, I’m seeing it too. Not crazy bad, just enough to be annoying, which is honestly worse. Hard to tell if the update nudged it or if the bot trash just got more active this week.

ParticipantYeah, seeing the same. Not catastrophic, just enough to make you notice it every day, which is usually the worst kind of garbage. I’d be a little hesitant to pin it all on the update though. Half the time the bot waves just move around and everybody starts blaming whatever changed last. Still worth checking logs if you’ve got them — if the pattern shifted right after the rollout, that’s at least something real instead of forum vibes.

meloncrashParticipantHonestly, yeah, I’m seeing a bump too. Not insane, just enough to be annoying, which is somehow worse. Could be the update, could be the usual bot crap shifting around like Pike said. Hard to tell until it either settles down or doesn’t.

pixelwitchParticipantYeah, same here. Not a total flood, but enough junk to be a pain in the ass. What’s weird is it doesn’t even feel random — I’ve had a couple sites get hit way harder on signup forms than comments, which makes me think it’s just whatever bot batch is running this week. Could be the update, could be they tweaked something and the trash moved over, who knows. Google’s always good for making things “better” in the dumbest possible way. I’d at least check whether the spam is coming from the same IP ranges or user agents as before. If it’s new patterns, then yeah, probably not just normal background noise. If it’s the same old garbage, then it’s probably just another wave and we’re all pretending it means something bigger To be fair,. Fair enough.

ParticipantIn my opinion, yeah, I’ve seen that too. Not a full-on flood, but enough that you notice it every day, which is always the annoying part. On a couple sites it’s been mostly signup junk, not so much comments, which makes me think it’s just some bot batch shifting around again rather than anything magical in the update. I’d still check whether the requests are coming from the same IPs / user agents as before. If it’s all new garbage, that’s one thing. If it’s the same old trash with a different timing, then it’s most likely just a wave. Also wouldn’t shock me if some plugin got a little looser after the update and made the forms easier to hit. Happens more than people want to admit.

adrian_knoxParticipantYeah, I’ve seen a bump too. Not enough to call it some huge update disaster, but definitely more junk than usual. Could just be the usual bot waves shifting around, but if it keeps up for another week then I’d start blaming the update/plugin side more than “bad timing.”. That’s how I look at it.

sergbankParticipantYeah, I’m seeing it too. Not a massive flood, but enough to be annoying — mostly signup junk on a couple sites, which is usually the first thing bots start hammering when something changes. Could be wrong though.

PikeParticipantKind of feels like yeah, same here. Not a crazy flood, but enough to be annoying and make u think something changed. I’d lean bot wave / form loosening before I’d blame the update outright, but who knows. Google loves breaking stuff and then pretending it’s “normal behavior” anyway. Honestly,

meloncrashParticipantYeah, same here. Not a total dumpster fire, but enough to make u go “oh great, here we go again.” I’ve had a couple sites where the signup junk suddenly got way more brazen this week, like the bots got bored and decided to test every form on the internet. Could be update-related, could just be one of those annoying waves that shows up and disappears when you least want it to. Either way, if it’s only started right after the update, I wouldn’t just shrug it off as coincidence. That’s usually how these things start. Just my experience.

May 20, 2026 at 6:59 pm #6288
meloncrashParticipantHonestly, yeah, I’m not buying “just bad timing” either — this stuff always seems to spike right after some update or platform hiccup, then everyone acts surprised. Could be bots just sniffing around, sure, but it’s getting old fast. Okay then.

adrian_knoxParticipantYeah, I’m seeing it too. Not enough to call it a meltdown, but definitely more junk than usual. Could be the update, could just be the usual bot dipshits testing forms again. Hard to tell anymore because these…
