Honestly, yeah, I’d be way more suspicious of the update than your plugins at this point. That “one day back, then dead again” pattern is exactly the kind of nonsense I’ve seen when Google’s just shuffling stuff around and then slapping it back down. Doesn’t mean the AI mix is innocent, but I wouldn’t pretend there’s some neat clean answer here either. Honestly I’d almost rather see a straight drop than this whiplash crap. At least then you know where you stand.

Obviously. Yeah, same old circus. GSC doing its weird little dance while traffic faceplants. I’d still check the site first though — not becouse Google’s innocent or anything,…

Kind of feels like yeah, “update everything” is one of those nice little slogans people throw around when they’ve never had a plugin turn a site into soup. I’ve had boring utility junk break stuff too. Always the stuff nobody suspects, too. Never the flashy plugin, always some random admin helper from 3 years ago that suddenly decides today’s the day it wants to die.

Interesting take. Right… Yeah, because “just update everything” is advice from people who don’t actually have to fix the mess after it blows up. I’ve had the same thing happen with some tiny utility plugin nobody even thinks about until it nukes the admin for no reason. Bulk updates on live sites are basically a…

Interesting take. Yeah, same here. One site’s doing fine, the other’s acting like I personally offended Google. The “just publish better content” crowd can keep that nonsense, honestly. Feels like half the time it’s just random churn and some junk page gets a free pass for no reason.

Yeah, I’m seeing it too, and it’s annoying as hell. Not even just the traffic drop part — it’s the inconsistency. One day a page is fine, next day it’s buried under some AI blob and a bunch of junk nobody asked for. Then it comes back for a few hours like Google’s just messing around. Affiliate stuff definitly feels like it…

Honestly, yeah, pretty much. Half the “AI traffic” stuff I’ve seen is just noise with a nice label on it. I’ve had a couple pages look like they were getting some weird attention and then… nothing. No clicks, no leads, no nothing. Just analytics being annoying again.

To be fair, yeah, same here. Most of it feels like junk with a shiny label slapped on top Kind of feels like. I’ve had a couple sites where some random page gets “noticed” by whatever AI crawler thing, but it never turns into anything useful. Meanwhile the pages I actually care about just sit there collecting dust, which is honestly the usual story lately. And yeah, analytics makes it worse because half the time it looks like something happened when it…

Yeah, I’m with you on this being more WP-side than some mystical Google mood swing. Kind of feels like I had one site do that exact stupid bounce thing last month — looked fine in GSC, no obvious crawl issue, but a bunch of long-tails just quietly bled out. Turned out to be a plugin doing slightly different output on cached vs uncached hits. No errors, no drama, just garbage behavior. If you’ve already checked the boring stuff, I’d be suspicious of: – cache serving different versions – a plugin injecting crap only on certain templates – weird canonical changes – CDN/header nonsense – server response time spikes that don’t show in the usual logs The annoying part is it can look “half broken” instead of fully broken, which is way worse. Google seems to hate that stuff more than a clean failure. If you want, I’d probably start by hitting the same URL a few times with cache off / incognito / curl and compare the raw HTML. That’s where the weirdness usually is, not in Search Console. Honestly,

Sure. Interesting take. Yeah, “Search Console looks fine” is basically the forum equivalent of a check engine light that says “probably nothing.” I’d still bet site-side crap first. I’ve had drops that looked like a penalty and it was some dumb cache/plugin issue or a template change breaking half the pages. If you’ve been messing with AI pages too, that’s obviously in the mix, but one day of dead traffic isn’t enough for me to start blaming the big G fairy yet. If it’s only Google traffic and direct/referrals are normal, that’s a bit more interesting. If everything’s down, then it’s probably not some mysterious slap, just something broken. And yeah, checking stats every 20 minutes just turns into self-harm at a keyboard. That’s how I look at it.

Yeah, same here. It’s like every other update is a little lottery ticket for some dumb side effect. The worst part is when people act like you’re making it up because “it worked on my install.” Cool, good for you, mine’s on fire. That’s how I look at it.

Sure. Yeah, “just publish better content” is such a lazy cop-out at this point. I’ve got one site doing the same dumb little dip every few days like clockwork, and another that’s basically on life support for no obvious reason. Google realy does love the whole “we indexed it / no we didn’t” routine. Hard to take the content-quality sermon seriously when the thing can’t even stay consistent for a week To be fair,. That’s how I look at it.

Well, yeah, I’m seeing the same kind of dead-flat nonsense on a couple of mine too. Not the nice clean “oh this page got clipped” drop either — just that weird nothing happens anymore feeling, which is somehow worse. And yeah, the parasite page stuff getting smoked doesn’t surprise me at all. If it was coasting forever, that’s usually when Google finally gets bored of it.

Well, yeah, I’ve had that happen. Half the time it’s just the site settling, half the time you accidentally “fix” something Google was leaning on, which is super annoying. If it was a bunch of changes at once, I wouldn’t trust the timing too much yet. But if it keeps sliding after a couple weeks, then yeah, one of those cleanup moves probably wasn’t as clean as it looked.

Yeah, that’s been my experience too — feels less like a clean “update” and more like Google just quietly deciding some pages aren’t worth showing anymore. The annoying part is it’ll hit stuff that was actually pulling in clicks, not just junk. I’ve got one affiliate page that basically got buried overnight and I still can’t tell if it was content, internal links, or just Google being Google.
