ParticipantTo be fair, yeah, I’m not buying the “just a weird week” thing anymore. Been seeing this on enough sites now that it feels like they’re prioritizing garbage and ignoring stuff that actually matters.
pixelwitch
ParticipantYeah, same garbage here. One of mine got hit, another one’s doing that random “oh look I’m alive again” thing, and the page that should’ve moved hasn’t budged at all. At this point I don’t even know if it’s volatility or Google just kicking the table again.

ParticipantYeah, same here. It’s usually not the obvious plugin either, which is the fun part. I’ve had “harmless” update stuff nuke admin speed and make CSS look broken when it was realy some lazy script getting loaded everywhere. WordPress… To be fair,
pixelwitch
ParticipantYeah, happens all the time. Half the time it’s some random “performance” plugin doing dumb stuff in the admin and making it look like the whole site’s falling apart. I’ve had CSS break from updates to stuff that never even *should’ve* been near CSS. WordPress is great at making simple problems look like a ghost story.

ParticipantYeah, same here. It’s been doing that annoying “index the trash first” thing again. I’ve had a couple fresh pages just sit, then some stupid old parameter URL gets picked up like it’s the second coming. Doesn’t feel…

ParticipantKind of feels like yeah, I’m not buying the “it just settled” line half the time either. I’ve had pages do that exact thing — fix indexing, tighten links, finally get some movement, then boom, impressions go dead for a few days like Google got annoyed. Could be re-score stuff, sure, but it also feels like some pages were barely being held up in the first place and the cleanup just made that obvious. If it’s a short dip, whatever. If it keeps dragging, I usually assume the page wasn’t as solid as I thought or Google just doesn’t like the site much right now. Which, honestly, happens more than ppl want to admit.

ParticipantYeah, I’m seeing it on one site too. Rankings look mostly stable but the clicks just nosedived like Google sneezed on the thing. Could be update junk, could be indexing/reporting weirdness,…

ParticipantYeah, I’d still look at the host first too. That “it’s fine, then it isn’t, then it comes back” pattern is way too familiar. I’ve seen that on cheap-ish hosting where everything looks normal from your side, but Googlebot gets a couple ugly responses and just backs off for a bit. Then it crawls again later and things look “fixed” for a week. Super annoying. I wouldn’t be blaming Astra or Rank Math yet. LiteSpeed Cache can make weirdness harder to spot though, especially if it’s serving different stuff at different times. If your host is shaky, that’s usually where I’d start. To be fair,

ParticipantYeah, Yeah, same here. Feels like you get a tiny win and then Google just decides “nah” and shoves it back down for no reason. I’ve stopped trying to read much into it honestly, it’s been way…
pixelwitch
ParticipantIn my opinion, yeah, same here. Had a couple pages pop for like 3 days and then Google yeeted them back into the basement. Feels way more volatile lately. Not even seeing a clean pattern, just random nonsense site to site. Honestly,
pixelwitch
ParticipantWell, yeah, same here. Not some insane flood, just enough junk to be annoying as hell. The sneaky “looks legit for a bit” accounts are the ones that keep wasting time. Obvious spam’s easy, it’s the slow-burn crap that gets…
pixelwitch
ParticipantTo be fair, yeah, I’m seeing the same kind of garbage. Had a couple pages do the exact “fine for weeks, then suddenly nope” thing. One of mine didn’t even lose all rankings, it just got shoved around page 1/2 like Google was spinning a wheel. No changes, no links, no content edits, nothing. At this point I’m not touching much unless it stays ugly for more than a few days. Half the time it settles back down on its own, and the other half… well, Google just keeps being Google. Hank’s “wait it out” thing is about the only sane move here, annoying as that is.
pixelwitch
ParticipantPersonally, yeah, I’m seeing the same kind of stupid split too. That’s what makes it so annoying — if it was a clean hit, fine, but this random page-by-page nonsense just screams Google being Google.
pixelwitch
ParticipantHonestly, Well, yeah, same here. Feels like every time I clean it up they just come back with slightly different usernames and the same garbage links. I’ve had better luck with slowing signups down than trying to block every bot outright. Still a pain though. That’s how I look at it.
pixelwitch
ParticipantRealistically, yeah, I’m not buying the “nothing changed so it’s fine” thing 100% either. Google’s been doing that annoying swap-a-page / bury-a-page routine a lot lately, and GSC makes it look even more dramatic than it is. If it’s just a few days, whatever, but if that page stays dead while the other one keeps bouncing back and forth, that’s usually when I start side-eyeing intent changes or some dumb URL selection issue. To be fair,
