To be fair, yeah, I’ve had that exact annoying combo too. Indexing looks “cleaner” in GSC and then traffic just faceplants anyway. Yeah, same here. One decent page gets slapped and some garbage URL suddenly gets a little ego boost for no reason. I’m not even bothering to “read the tea leaves” on this one yet. Google does this weird little drunk shuffle all the time.
To be fair, yeah, I’ve seen that too. It’s like Google waits until you finally clean things up and then decides to take a nap on your pages for a week or two. I don’t even trust the “settle down” line anymore unless I’m seeing actual crawl movement in GSC. Sometimes it really does come back, sometimes it just… doesn’t, and you’re left staring at impressions like an idiot.
I mean, yep, same here on a couple of my posts. Nothing in GSC looked like a disaster, but clicks just slid anyway, which is always fun 🙃 I’d be checking title rewrites and SERP junk before blaming WordPress. Plugin updates can mess stuff up, sure, but this feels more like Google being weird again.
Yeah, Yeah, it’s been super hit or miss for me too. I’ve had fresh pages just sit there forever while some trash gets picked up instantly, so I’m not realy buying the “must be content” lecture either.

Fair enough. Yeah, I’d be side-eyeing the update too tbh. I’ve had “tiny” plugin updates mess with front-end stuff and then traffic does that stupid little wobble for a day or two. If it was me I’d check the obvious boring stuff first — cache, minify, any lazyload nonsense, and whether the plugin started loading extra scripts everywhere. Those little changes can be enough to make a page feel worse even if Search Console stays quiet. Also, if you updated more than one thing at once, good luck figuring out which one did it 🙃
Well, yeah, I’ve seen that too and it’s annoying as hell. What gets me is the random junk that wakes up while the site you actually maintain just sits there doing nothing. Google really does feel like it’s just tossing signals around and seeing what sticks.
