Traffic dropped after the last update again

Not sure if it’s just me, but one of my affiliate sites got smacked again after the last update. Nothing crazy changed on my end. Same content, same links, same setup. Just woke up and traffic was down like 30%. What’s annoying is the pages still index fine, but rankings are all over the place. A few old posts came back for no reason, then dropped again two days later….

Honestly, yeah, seen this a few times now. “Nothing changed” on your end and then the update still kicks you anyway. The annoying part is when indexation looks fine but the SERPs just shuffle like crazy for a week or two. I’d be looking at the usual suspects first — sitewide template changes from a plugin update, internal linking weirdness, or some crawl/render issue that only shows up after the algo refreshes. Wouldn’t assume it’s permanent yet, but 30% is enough to make you stare at Search Console like an idiot for a few days. Personally,

Yeah, that “nothing changed” part is usually the most annoying bit. I’ve had a couple sites do the same thing where indexation stayed clean but rankings just got thrashed for a bit. In my experience it’s often not a hard penalty, more like the update reweights stuff and some pages get shoved around for no obvious reason. If old posts are popping back in and then disappearing again, that usually feels like volatility in the scoring layer, not a crawl issue. Still worth checking if anything got quietly changed by a plugin/theme update though — that’s bitten me before when I swore nothing moved…
