Google just nuked my client traffic again

Not even kidding, I’ve got two clients down hard this week and the timing is just too clean to be random. One was holding steady for months, then boom, pages start slipping and impressions look like they got hit with a brick. Nothing dramatic changed on our side. No weird dev release, no content purge, nothing. I’m getting tired of the “check your basics” advice too, because yeah, obviously I checked. This feels more like Google being Google again. Anyone else seeing this or am I just the lucky one this week?

Yeah, we’ve seen a couple weird drops this week too. Not saying it’s *definitely* an update, but the timing’s been a bit too neat on a few accounts for me to brush off. The annoying part is when nothing obvious changed and you still end up doing the whole “well… what did Google decide to break today” routine. That’s how I look at it.

Honestly, technically, yeah, I’m seeing the same kind of nonsense on a couple accounts. What bugs me is when it’s not even a clean “one page got hit” thing — it’s like the whole set just gets pushed around for no obvious reason and then everyone starts pretending it’s all site quality and “basics.” Sure, sometimes it is. But not every drop is some genius audit failure. We had one client last month where everything was basically flat for ages, then a bunch of decent pages started sliding at once. Nothing changed on our side either. GSC looked ugly, rankings got weird, and the only “fix” was waiting it out while Google did whatever mood swing it was having. So yeah, I don’t think you’re crazy. I’d still double-check crawl/indexing just because that’s the boring reality, but I’m not buying the idea that every sudden drop is some internal screwup. Sometimes Google just decides to be a pain.

Yeah, I’m not buying “just basics” either when it’s this clean and this sudden. We had one site do basically the same thing last quarter — flat for months, then a weird slide across a bunch of pages at once. No dev changes, no content shakeup, nothing obvious. Google just seems…
