Been messing around with a few affiliate sites this week and I’m seeing some odd CTR changes after the latest Google update.
One of my pages held rankings pretty well, but clicks dropped hard on desktop while mobile stayed mostly normal. Another page actually picked up a few spots but traffic barely moved, which makes me think SERP layout changes are doing more damage than the ranking itself.
I’ve been testing a couple things:
– rewriting titles to be more specific and less “SEO-ish”
– adding comparison tables higher up on the page
– tightening up meta descriptions for the money pages
– swapping some AI-written intros for shorter, more direct copy
So far the biggest lift came from changing titles, not from any on-page fluff. Pretty sure a lot of the “SEO advice” out there is overcomplicating it. If the snippet isn’t getting clicks, the ranking doesn’t matter much.
Curious what everyone else is seeing:
– CTR up or down after the update?
– any title tweaks actually helping?
– anyone using AI tools for testing snippet ideas faster?
Would be good to compare notes, because right now it feels like Google is rewarding some pages but quietly killing the click rate on others.
