DenParticipantHonestly, not sure if it’s just me, but the last couple days have been a mess. Way more junk signups and obvious spam posts than usual. I cleaned a bunch this morning and it already feels like more came back. Anyone else seeing this or is my forum just getting hammered for some reason?

ParticipantYeah, seeing the same here. Usually means some bot swarm found a fresh hole or the signup form got a little too easy again. If it’s sudden sudden, I’d check the usual junk: registration captcha, email verification, and whether the spam posts are all coming from the same pattern/IP range. Sometimes it’s just a wave and not even “your forum” specifically.

meloncrashParticipantYeah, same here. Feels like one of those stupid waves again. I’ve had weeks where it’s dead quiet and then overnight it’s like somebody flipped a switch. Annoying part is half the time it’s not even a “real” attack, just some bot junk finding the easiest door in.

ParticipantIn most cases, from what I’ve seen, yeah, same here. Usually it’s a wave, but when it jumps that fast I start wondering if some form or plugin got a bit too friendly. We’ve had that before where it wasn’t “the forum got hit” so much as one dumb little signup change made it way easier for bots to chew through.

ParticipantYeah, we’ve had that too. Usually it’s either a wave or some little thing got loosened up and the bots noticed faster than you did. If it’s all garbage signups/posts coming in… Personally,

meloncrashParticipantYeah, I’m seeing it too. Not even just signups, the spam posts are getting dumber and more frequent, which usually means some bot farm got bored and started spraying everywhere. Honestly I’d check the obvious stuff before assuming it’s just a “wave.” Half the time it’s some tiny change nobody noticed and then suddenly the junk starts pouring in.

meloncrashParticipantYeah, I’d lean toward some bot wave too, but I wouldn’t rule out a setting/plugin thing either. I’ve had “sudden spam explosion” turn out to be one dumb change in the signup flow more than once.

orion_kadeParticipantYeah, I’d check the signup flow first before blaming “a wave” or whatever. Every time I’ve seen it spike like that, it was either a form change, a missing check, or some plugin doing something stupid in the background Technically,. Bots don’t usually get *more clever* overnight, they just find an opening and keep hammering it.

meloncrashParticipantKind of feels like could be a wave, but yeah, I’d still be looking at what changed first. Every time I’ve had spam suddenly go nuts it turned out to be some dumb plugin tweak or a form getting too loose, not some mysterious bot evolution thing. That’s how I look at it.
