meloncrashParticipantNot sure if it’s just me but a couple of my niche sites dropped pretty hard overnight. One site was doing okay for months, then bam, clicks are down and a few money pages just vanished from where they were. What’s annoying is the numbers in Search Console don’t even look totally dead, just messy enough to make me sit there refreshing like an idiot. I’ve been messing around with AI content and a couple plugin changes lately, so maybe I broke something myself, but this feels more like Google being weird again. Anyone else seeing this or am I just having one of those lovely weeks?

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen that a few times now. Usually it’s not “traffic tanked” so much as Google doing one of its little rearrange-the-furniture games overnight. The weird part is the money pages disappearing while GSC still looks half-alive. That’s the bit that makes me suspicious it’s not just normal fluctuation. If you’ve been changing plugins lately, I’d check for crawl/index weirdness first before blaming the AI stuff. I’ve had one site get hit because a caching plugin update started serving junk to bots only. Took way too long to notice because the front end looked fine.

adrian_knoxParticipantYeah, I wouldn’t jump straight to “Google killed it” if you’ve been tweaking plugins and AI pages at the same time. That combo is usually where the mess starts, honestly. I’d be looking at crawl/rendering stuff first before reading too much into the update timing. Personally,

DenParticipantHonestly, yeah, could easily be a mix of both. If you’ve been changing plugins and pushing AI stuff lately, I wouldn’t trust the timing much. I’d check logs / crawl errors before assuming it’s just another Google wobble. At least from what I’ve seen.

PikeParticipantYeah, I’m not buying the “just Google being weird” line if you’ve been messing with plugins and AI pages at the same time. That combo has burned me before. One stupid plugin update and suddenly half the site’s fine for humans but Google’s seeing some janky version of it. I’d be checking the pages that dropped first, not the whole site at once. Usually there’s a pattern hiding in there somewhere. Nathan’s right about one thing though, the GSC stuff can look half-alive and still be a mess. That’s the part…

PikeParticipantRealistically, yeah, I’m seeing some weirdness too, but I wouldn’t blame the update 100% if you’ve been changing plugins and tossing AI pages around at the same time. That’s exactly how you end up with a site that looks “sort of fine” in GSC but traffic gets kneecapped anyway. I’d be looking at the pages that dropped first, not the whole site drama.
