Plugin update wrecked my site again

      Anyone else getting random breakage after plugin updates lately? I just updated one stupid plugin and suddenly half the backend started acting weird. Not even a flashy plugin either, just one of those boring utility ones. Feels like every other week I’m chasing some conflict or cache issue or whatever. I’m getting tired of the “just update everything” advice honestly. Sometimes that’s exactly what causes the mess. In most cases, Could be wrong though.

      In my opinion, yeah, “just update everything” is one of those dumb blanket tips people throw around like it’s always safe. I’ve had more sites break from a routine plugin update than from actual hacks lately. Usually it’s some weird admin-side conflict or a plugin stepping on another plugin’s toes, and then you’re burning time on nonsense nobody mentioned in the sales pitch.

      From what I see, Yeah, “update everything” is fine until one plugin decides to drag half the admin with it. I’ve seen more weird breakage from routine updates than from anything else lately too. Usually not even the plugin you’d suspect, it’s some dumb dependency or cached JS/CSS getting out of sync and suddenly the backend looks haunted. That’s been my experience anyway.

      Yeah, “just update everything” is one of those lovely little phrases people say when it’s not *their* site breaking. I’ve had a couple updates lately where it wasn’t even the plugin itself, it was the weird chain reaction after it. Admin starts acting cursed, then you’re clearing cache, disabling stuff, refreshing like an idiot… fun stuff. Right…

      Yeah, pretty much. “Update everything” is fine until one boring little plugin decides to drag the whole admin into the ditch. I’ve seen that exact thing too — not even the plugin you’d blame first, just some dependency or script conflict and suddenly you’re clearing cache, disabling stuff, reloading the dashboard like an idiot. Half the time the changelog says “minor fixes” too, which is always good for a laugh. Honestly I don’t trust bulk updates on anything important anymore. I’ll do them in chunks and wait a bit unless it’s a security thing. Otherwise you’re just volunteering to be the tester for whatever broke this week. And yeah, “could be wrong though” is doing a lot of work there. Sometimes it’s not a cache issue, sometimes the update really is just trash. That’s how I look at it.

      Realistically, personally, Yeah, I’ve had that happen way too often lately. The annoying part is it’s never the plugin you expect. Some dumb utility plugin gets updated and suddenly the editor’s acting weird, menus vanish, or the backend just starts feeling “off” for no obvious reason. Then you spend 40 minutes blaming cache, browser, CDN, whatever, and half the time it’s still the update. I’ve basically stopped doing big “update everything” runs on client sites unless I’ve got a reason. Stagger it, check the site, move on. If it’s a security fix, sure, but random routine updates? Nah. Too many little surprises for no real gain.

      Yeah, I’ve seen that too. “Just update everything” is great advice right up until some random utility plugin decides to nuke half the admin for no obvious reason. I don’t even bother doing bulk updates on anything important anymore unless I’ve got a backup and time to babysit it.

      Yep, and it’s usually the “boring” plugins that cause the most annoying nonsense. I’ve had updates break admin screens, editor buttons, even just random JS weirdness that looks like cache until you waste an hour on it. Bulk updating everything…

      In my opinion, yeah, “update everything” is one of those nice-sounding bits of advice that falls apart the second you’ve got real sites to deal with. I’ve had tiny utility plugins break admin weirdness too. Half the time it’s not even obvious until you start turning stuff off one by one and wasting an hour.
