adrian_knoxParticipantI’m noticing something odd on a couple sites this week. Rankings aren’t totally dead, but the pages that used to get picked up in AI answers and summaries are way less visible now. Could be nothing, could be one of those random shifts, but it feels a lot like retrieval is getting pickier. Same content, same internal links, same general structure, yet the mentions just…

meloncrashParticipantSure. Honestly, yeah, seeing that too. Couple of my pages didn’t really “drop” in the normal sense, but they just stopped getting pulled into those AI summaries like they used to. Same old Google nonsense where nothing’s technically broken, but the visibility just quietly gets kneecapped anyway. Feels less like a ranking issue and more like they’re being way pickier about what they’ll surface. Which is great, obviously, if you enjoy guessing games.

sergbankParticipantYeah, same here. Not a full tank job, just that annoying “you’re still ranking but nobody’s picking you up anymore” thing. Feels like they’re tightening the filter on what gets cited, or maybe just rotating sources again. Either way it’s the usual fun little Google surprise. That’s been my experience anyway.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen it on a couple sites too. Not a full-on drop, just that annoying “used to show up, now it’s like they don’t exist” thing. My gut says they’re tightening whatever retrieval/citation filter they’re using again. Same content, same…

ParticipantYeah, seen it. Doesn’t look like a normal ranking hit, more like whatever they’re using to pick citations got stricter again. I’d check whether the pages still get crawled/rendered the same first, because in a couple cases I’ve seen the “drop” was just the AI layer deciding it liked fresher or more explicit pages better. And honestly, meloncrash’s “Google nonsense” take isn’t far off for once.

ParticipantYeah, I’m seeing something similar. Not a full collapse, just that annoying “still indexed, still fine, but the AI layer stopped bothering” vibe. Feels less like a content problem and more like whatever source-picking logic they’re using got pickier again. Which, honestly, is about as useful as usual.

ParticipantYeah, I’m not buying that it’s just “random” either. Feels more like the retrieval layer’s getting fussier about which pages it’ll bother surfacing, which is annoying because the sites themselves don’t look broken.

ParticipantPersonally, Yeah, same here. Not a clean ranking drop, just that annoying “we still crawl it, we just don’t feel like citing it anymore” thing. I’ve seen it on pages that were getting picked up fine for weeks, then suddenly the AI answer starts preferring some thinner page with a more obvious snippet. Which is… great, I guess 🙄 Wouldn’t shock me if they tweaked source selection again. Google loves doing that half-baked and then acting like nothing changed.
