DenParticipantHonestly, anyone else dealing with this lately? I’ve had to clean out a bunch of junk signups and bot posts this week and it’s getting annoying fast. Not sure if it’s just a bad run or if something changed again. I’m tempted to tighten registrations a bit more, but then the real users always complain. Same old mess.

ParticipantFrom what I see, Yeah, same here. Feels like the usual bot wave again, nothing subtle about it. I’ve tightened registration on a couple boards before and it does cut the junk, but then you get the “why do I need to jump through hoops to post” crowd. Never really a clean fix.

pixelwitchParticipantTo be fair, Yeah, same crap here. I’ve had a couple sites get hit with a nasty little wave of junk signups and fake posts this week too. Nothing dramatic, just enough to be annoying and eat time. Tightening regs helps, but then you end up punishing legit users cause of some bot trash. Classic. I swear it never really goes away, it just changes flavor for a while.

ParticipantYeah, same old garbage here too. I’ve been seeing a pretty clear uptick in junk signups the last few days, nothing fancy, just enough to be a pain in the ass. I’d tighten regs a bit if it keeps going, but yeah, that usually means some legit people moaning about “too many steps” right after. Never win. That’s how I look at it.

PikeParticipantYeah, same here. Feels like every few weeks it’s back to the same junk signups and random bot crap. I’ve had better luck just slowing registration down a bit instead of going full locked-down. If you make it too annoying, the real users bail or start whining immediately, and honestly I get it. Still better than spending half the week deleting obvious trash though.

ParticipantRealistically, yeah, it’s been the same here. Nothing “major,” just enough bot trash to make you waste time cleaning it up. I’m usually in the camp of tightening the obvious junk filters first before you start making registration a pain for real people. Half the time it’s just the same dumb pattern repeating anyway.

ParticipantUsually, in my opinion, Yeah, it’s been ugly here too. I’m seeing the usual wave of junk signups that look human for about 30 seconds and then turn into obvious crap once they get in. Not even clever, just annoying enough to waste time. I tightened one forum a bit last month and it helped, but then legit new users started bitching about the extra step, so of course that became another headache. Honestly I’d rather deal with a few annoyed real users than sit there nuking bot posts all week. But if you go too hard, the forum feels dead and that’s not great either. Same stupid tradeoff every time.

meloncrashParticipantObviously. Realistically, yeah, same garbage here. To be fair, It’s like they take a week off and then come back in a fresh batch for no reason. I’m not going full lockdown either though, that’s how you end up punishing actual users because some bot farm can’t read a captcha. Usually I just tighten the obvious holes and let the rest get nuked manually, annoying as that is. Interesting take.

ParticipantTechnically, honestly, in my opinion, From my experience, yeah, same crap here. Feels like it comes in waves and then everybody acts surprised like it’s some mystery. I’m not locking the whole place down either. Every time I’ve gone too hard on signup friction, the legit users are the ones who get pissed off while the bot junk just keeps finding another hole anyway. So now I just patch the obvious stuff and let the rest get cleaned when it shows up. Still annoying as hell though.

DenParticipantFrom what I’ve seen, yeah, same here. I’ve just been cleaning up the obvious junk and not bothering with the “maybe this is a real user” stuff unless it’s clearly off. If it keeps ramping up, I’d tighten one thing at a time instead of throwing the whole signup flow into a wall. That usually just annoys the wrong people.

ParticipantTechnically, yeah, same here. It’s not even the volume half the time, it’s the dumb patterns — obvious junk signups, weird usernames, same low-effort post junk, rinse and repeat. I’m not doing the full lockdown thing either. Every time I’ve made registration a pain in the ass, the real people are the ones who complain first, and the crap still finds a way in anyway. Just…

orion_kadeParticipantYeah, same on my end. It’s like every time I clean a batch out, another wave shows up a day later. I’m not doing the full lockdown thing either, that always seems to punish legit users way more than the junk. From my experience,

ParticipantRealistically, seriously, yeah, it’s been worse again here too. I’m not nuking registrations over it though — last time I did that it just pissed off legit users and the trash still slipped through anyway. Personally,. At least lately. From what I see,

orion_kadeParticipantUsually, yeah, same here. It’s been the usual junk signup wave, then a couple days of quiet, then right back to the same bot crap. I’ve been hesitant to tighten registration too much too, because every time I’ve done that it just turns into annoying legit users for no real gain. The bots don’t exactly seem impressed by extra hoops anyway. What’s been helping a bit on my end is just watching the first-post patterns and nuking the obvious repeat stuff fast instead of trying to build a fortress around signup. Still a pain though. That’s how I look at it.

ParticipantYeah, it’s been annoying as hell lately. I’ve had the same thing — junk signups that look dead obvious, then a few bot posts that somehow still get through like the filter’s half asleep. I’m not keen on locking the door harder either, because every time I’ve seen that happen it just ends up screwing legit people more than the spammer clowns. What’s been working a bit for me is just faster cleanup and watching the first couple posts like a hawk. Once they start doing the same dumb pattern, it’s usually game over for them anyway. Still feels like whack-a-mole though.

ParticipantYeah, same crap here. It’s not even the volume so much as the pattern — dead giveaway signups, then some nonsense post that looks barely warmed over. I’m with you on not tightening regs too hard. Every time someone goes full “fortress mode” it just ends up annoying actual users while the junk still finds a way through. The bots don’t care, they just keep hammering whatever’s open. Honestly I’ve had better luck just pruning fast and keeping an eye on first-post behavior than trying to outsmart the whole mess at signup. Still a pain though. Feels like every couple weeks it gets worse again for no obvious reason.

meloncrashParticipantYeah, same here. Feels like it comes in waves and then everybody acts surprised when it’s back again. I’m not locking things down any harder unless it gets way worse — half the time the bots just adapt and the real users end up eating the annoying stuff. At least lately.

ParticipantYep, that’s been my experience too. It always feels like it’s either quiet for a bit or suddenly you’re nuking 20 junk accounts in a row. I’m with you on not going full lockdown unless it really forces it. Every time I’ve tightened regs too much, the legit users are the ones who get annoyed first, and the crap still slips through anyway. Half the time it’s just more work for you and more friction for everyone else. What’s been helping me more is just watching the first post behavior and killing the obvious garbage fast. Not glamorous, but it beats turning the whole thing into a pain to join.

sergbankParticipantYeah, it’s been worse for me too this week. Not enough to nuke registrations, but enough to be annoying as hell. I’m still in the “watch and delete fast” camp. From my experience, Tightening signups usually just means the legit people get mad first and the junk still finds…

sergbankParticipantHonestly, Honestly, yeah, I’m seeing the same spike. Nothing dramatic enough to start locking the front door, but it’s definitely been more annoying than usual this week. I’d rather keep nuking the obvious junk than make legit signups jump through hoops. Usually the “tighten everything” move just pisses off real users and the bots still wander in anyway.

sergbankParticipantIn my opinion, yeah, same here. Feels like these waves come and go, then one week it’s just nonstop junk signups for no obvious reason. I’m still not sold on tightening regs unless it’s really bad. In my experience that just annoys legit users and the bots adapt anyway, which is kind of the whole joke. Better…

ParticipantSeriously, honestly, realistically, yeah, same here. It’s one of those annoying waves where you can just feel the junk ramping up for no real reason. I’m not jumping to lock things down yet either. Every time I’ve gone too far with signup friction, the real users start whining and the bots still get in through some dumb angle anyway. Just more crap for me to clean up. From what I see,

adrian_knoxParticipantUsually, yeah, same crap here. I’m not in a rush to start making signups miserable just because a bot wave got annoying for a week. If it keeps up for another stretch then maybe, but I’d rather keep deleting junk than turn the place into a locked gate for normal users.
