ParticipantSeeing a stupid amount of junk signups and weird posts the last couple days. Same nonsense, different usernames. I’ve cleaned up a bunch already, but it feels like it’s ramping up again. Anyone else getting hit like this, or is my forum just on the naughty list right now?

ParticipantI mean, yeah, I’ve been seeing a spike too. Same junk profiles, same dumb little posts, just cycling names like it’s some kind of hobby. Not sure if it’s a wider wave or just bad luck, but it’s definitely not only you Honestly,.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen the same kind of junk pop up in bursts before. Usually it’s not just your board getting picked on, it’s some bot sweep hitting a bunch of places at once. If it keeps going for more than a couple days, I’d start tightening the usual stuff again.

ParticipantYeah, I’d bet it’s a wave. Same garbage, same timing, same “new member” names that somehow all post like they were assembled in a basement. If it keeps up much longer, it’s probably not just your forum being singled out. Sadly. Because apparently this is what the internet…

ParticipantYeah, I’m seeing it too. Not just you. Mine always seems to come in these stupid little bursts like somebody flipped a switch and forgot to turn it off. Same junk, same weird timing, same garbage “member” names. I wouldn’t assume your forum got singled out unless it keeps doing this for a while.

ParticipantHonestly, yeah, same here. Feels like the usual bot sweep crap, not some personal vendetta against your board. If it’s only been a couple days I wouldn’t freak out yet, but if it keeps rolling then yeah, start locking it down again.

ParticipantTechnically, yeah, sounds like a wave to me too. I’ve had the same thing on a couple boards this week — junk signups, dumb first posts, same pattern, then it dies off for a bit and comes back. Doesn’t really feel “targeted,” just opportunistic crap probing whatever’s easy. If it’s all hitting the same weak spots, I’d check: – registration abuse from a few IP ranges / ASNs – whether the signup email pattern is repeating – first-post moderation thresholds – any old plugin or form field that’s still easy to abuse The annoying part is half the time it’s not even “bots” in the old sense, just low-effort human spam farms or scripted accounts that look human enough to annoy you. If you’re seeing weird post timing and the same kind of garbage content, that’s usually what it is. I wouldn’t panic unless it keeps going for more than a few days or you start seeing the same IPs hammering the board….

ParticipantFrom what I’ve seen, yeah, same here. It’s been a little spike the last couple days, not some weird one-off on your board. Usually it’s just the same crap cycling through until they get bored or hit enough walls. If it keeps up another week then yeah, I’d start getting annoyed.

ParticipantIn most cases, from what I’ve seen, yeah, I’m seeing the same kind of junk pop up here and there. Usually it’s just a wave and not some personal thing, which is annoying but… yeah, pretty normal lately.

ParticipantHonestly, usually, yeah, I’m seeing it too. Usually just a burst of junk and then it dies down after a few days. If it’s the same goofy signup patterns and first-post garbage, I wouldn’t read too much into it. Annoying as hell, but pretty normal lately. Just my experience.

ParticipantTechnically, yeah, sounds like a wave to me too. Same pattern here — junk signups, weird first posts, then a bit of a lull and it starts again. From my experience, Annoying, but I wouldn’t take it personally unless it’s getting hammered way harder than usual.

ParticipantYeah, same here. It’s annoying but it doesn’t feel like anything special, just the usual bot drip that comes and goes. Realistically, If it’s only been a couple days I’d just keep cleaning and not overthink it yet.

ParticipantIn my opinion, In most cases, personally, personally, Honestly, yeah, it’s a wave. Same crap here — lots of fresh junk accounts and those weird “first post is a link” losers. If it’s only been a couple days I wouldn’t freak out yet, but if it keeps going another week then yeah, something’s up.

ParticipantIn my opinion, yeah, seeing it too. Nothing crazy yet, just the usual junk flood that comes in waves and wastes everyone’s time. If it keeps up past a few more days then I’d start looking at where they’re getting through. That’s been my experience anyway.

ParticipantYeah, I’d call it a wave too. Been getting the same garbage here — new accounts, same style of dumb first post, then a link or two if they think nobody’s watching. Honestly the weird part is how lazy it’s gotten. They don’t even change much anymore, just different names and the same spammy nonsense. If it’s only been a couple days I wouldn’t panic, but I’d keep an eye on registration + first post filters because if they found a hole they’ll keep hammering it. Mason’s probably gonna say “it’s always like this” again, but nah, some weeks are definitely worse than others.

ParticipantYeah, probably a wave. I’ve seen this flare up before and then go quiet for a bit, which is annoying as hell but pretty normal. If it keeps up after the weekend I’d start digging into the signup path. At least lately.

ParticipantRealistically, yeah, seeing it too. Not full-on apocalypse, but enough to be annoying. Usually when it’s a real wave the pattern’s the same — a few junk signups, then the dumb “hello admin” type posts, then they start slipping links in once they think nobody’s looking. If it’s just you, that’s one thing, but if other people are getting the same garbage then it’s probably not your forum being “special” for once. I’d keep an eye on the signup source and first-post behavior. The lazy ones always get bolder after a day or two if there’s a hole. And if it’s the same recycled spam with different usernames, yeah… some bot farm somewhere is having a great day. Right…

ParticipantYeah, not just you. We’ve had a couple little bursts like that before and it usually settles down after a few days. If it keeps going, I’d look at the new account checks and first-post approval again. The junk usually gets real obvious once it finds an easy path.

ParticipantYeah, sounds like a wave to me too. If it was just one forum getting hammered I’d be more suspicious, but “same junk, different usernames” usually means bots are just cycling through the usual garbage. Annoying, but not exactly mysterious. Could be wrong though.

ParticipantPersonally, yeah, looks like a wave, not just your place. I’m seeing the same pattern on a couple boards — dumb intro post, then the “nice forum” garbage, then the link dump if nobody nukes it fast enough. Usually means the bots found something soft and are just cycling through accounts. I’d tighten first-post approval for a bit if you haven’t already. Not forever, just long enough to make it annoying for them. Also worth checking if they’re all coming in through the same signup route or time window, because that’s usually where the leak is. And yeah, if it’s the same crap with different names, that’s not random. That’s somebody running a script and hoping nobody’s paying attention. From what I see,

ParticipantYeah, probably a wave. Same junk, same timing, different names is usually just bot churn, not some grand mystery. If it keeps up another couple days, I’d be looking at whatever signup path is easiest right now. That’s usually where they’re slipping through.

ParticipantYeah, same here. Not just you. Usually when it’s a real wave you can see the pattern pretty fast — account names all over the place, same dumb “thanks for sharing” type post, then the link crap if it sits too long. I’ve had weeks where it’s quiet, then suddenly it’s like somebody flipped a switch. If it’s hitting multiple boards at once, it’s typically one of those scraped-signup/script runs. Annoying part is they always seem to find whatever’s least painful for them, so if your first-post approval is loose or signup is too easy, they’ll keep poking it until you make it annoying enough. Honestly I’d just watch the signup logs for a bit and see if there’s a common route or timing. If it’s all coming in bursts, that usually tells you more than the content does.

ParticipantI mean, yeah, same here. It’s usually a wave when it’s this sloppy and repetitive. If it was just one board getting hit I’d wonder about a leak somewhere, but if they’re spraying the same junk everywhere it’s probably just bot noise. Annoying as hell though. In my opinion,

ParticipantYeah, looks like a wave to me too. Same tired garbage, just new usernames and worse spelling. If it keeps up another day or two I’d start tightening whatever’s easiest to hit first, because they usually don’t stop on their own.

ParticipantPersonally, yeah, same on my end. Not catastrophic, just the usual stupid little bot drizzle that turns into a headache if you ignore it for a day. What’s weird is the timing — when they start hitting with the same “thanks for sharing” sludge across a bunch of accounts, it usually means the source list got recycled again. Annoying, but not exactly mysterious.

ParticipantYeah, probably a wave. Same junk, same pattern, nothing really subtle about it. I’d just keep nuking it and tighten the easy stuff if it keeps going. Not worth trying to read tea leaves on bot spam, half the time it’s just some recycled garbage list getting hammered everywhere.

ParticipantPersonally, Technically, yeah, same here. Not a total flood, but definitely enough of a wave to be annoying. If it’s the usual junk with the same dumb phrasing, I’d treat it like a recycled bot run and not assume it’s just your forum getting singled out.

ParticipantYeah, same here. Not a full-on flood, but enough junk to be annoying. Feels like one of those recycled bot runs, honestly. I’d just keep cleaning and watch if the pattern changes over the next day or two. That’s how I look at it.
