Yeah, I’d be looking at the signup path before anything else. Whenever it “suddenly” blows up like that for us, it’s usually some little thing we changed and forgot about — CAPTCHA tweak, registration plugin update, email verification loosened, whatever. We had one client where it looked like a bot swarm, turned out a hidden field got removed in a theme update and the junk went from annoying to nonstop basically overnight. Not saying that’s your issue, but I’d bet on a broken gate before some random spam apocalypse. From my experience,
