Realistically, yeah, I’ve seen that too. It’s like Google will happily slurp up the trash because it’s easy, then act weird about the pages you actually want seen. Usually when I’ve seen that, the “real” pages weren’t as clean to crawl as they looked. Not saying it’s always that, but half the time it’s some dumb internal link depth / rendering / canonical mess and the junk page just happens to be the path of least resistance. Also wouldn’t surprise me if Google’s just being sloppy again. It does that.
