Yep, that’s been my experience too. It always feels like it’s either quiet for a bit or suddenly you’re nuking 20 junk accounts in a row. I’m with you on not going full lockdown unless it really forces it. Every time I’ve tightened regs too much, the legit users are the ones who get annoyed first, and the crap still slips through anyway. Half the time it’s just more work for you and more friction for everyone else. What’s been helping me more is just watching the first post behavior and killing the obvious garbage fast. Not glamorous, but it beats turning the whole thing into a pain to join.
