Yeah, not buying the “must be your content” sermon either. If it’s a clean drop like that, I’d be looking at crawl/indexing or some query reshuffle before I’d start tearing the site apart. Google does this annoying little dance all the time where traffic vanishes for a bit and then comes back like nothing happened. If anyone’s posting logs, that’s probably more useful than another round of vague content advice.
