Been messing around with a few affiliate sites this week and I’m seeing some odd stuff in Search Console.
A couple pages that held steady for months dropped in clicks even though avg position barely moved. Impressions are basically fine, so it feels more like a CTR issue than a pure ranking hit.
What I’ve tested so far:
– changed titles on 3 pages to be more direct
– tightened up meta descriptions on money pages
– added a few comparison tables above the fold
– swapped out some “best X” wording for more specific intent-based titles
Early takeaway: the pages with cleaner titles and stronger intent match seem to be holding up better. The fluffy stuff is getting crushed.
Also noticed one affiliate page with decent rankings but low CTR started picking up after I added a quick “top pick” box and moved the FAQ lower. Nothing fancy, just made the page look more useful fast.
Curious if anyone else is seeing the same thing lately:
– are you changing titles more aggressively now?
– seeing CTR drops without big ranking drops?
– any AI tools helping you rewrite snippets faster?
Would be good to compare notes. I’m trying to avoid overcomplicating this and just focus on what actually moves clicks and revenue.
