ParticipantHey guys,
Been messing around with a few affiliate sites this week and noticed something odd. Rankings are mostly holding, but CTR is all over the place on a couple of pages that used to pull steady clicks.
One site in the finance niche dropped a bit in impressions, but another one in a “best tools” style affiliate setup actually got more impressions while clicks stayed flat. So basically, same-ish positions, worse CTR. Not sure if it’s the SERP layout changes, more ads, or just Google testing stuff again.
A few things I’ve been testing:
– rewriting titles to be less “SEO-ish” and more natural
– moving the main keyword closer to the front
– adding year modifiers where it makes sense
– tightening meta descriptions so they match the actual intent betterHonestly, the biggest lift so far came from changing a couple of titles from generic stuff like “Best X for Y” to something more specific and benefit-driven. Nothing crazy, but enough to move the needle a bit.
Also playing around with AI-assisted content for supporting pages. It’s fine for speed, but I’m still editing the hell out of it before publishing. Raw AI content just feels too samey for affiliate stuff.
Curious what everyone else is seeing:
– any CTR drops after the update?
– are you changing titles/metas or leaving them alone?
– anyone finding a tool that actually helps with CTR testing without overcomplicating things?Would be good to compare notes. I’m trying to keep this stuff practical, not theory-heavy.
