Yeah, that “clean drop” thing is what bugs me most. Usually when it’s a hard update hit, the graph looks messy as hell instead of some neat little cliff. I’d still check page groups over the whole site though. On a couple affiliate sites I’ve seen, it was basically the review pages or comparison pages getting shoved while the rest just kind of floated there uselessly. And yeah, “still indexed” doesn’t mean much. Google can keep your pages in the index and still decide they’re not worth showing for anything decent. That’s the part people keep pretending is reassuring and it really isn’t. If it happened overnight, I’d be more suspicious of a content-type hit than a technical issue, honestly.
