ParticipantIn my opinion, Been digging through logs the last couple days and Googlebot is acting kind of off on a few sites I watch. Not a total drop, just weird patterns — lots of hits on junk URLs, slower recrawl on pages that actually matter, and then random bursts like it’s trying to catch up. Could be nothing, but I don’t trust “nothing” when the logs start looking ugly. Anyone else seeing this or am I just staring at server logs too long again?

ParticipantKind of feels like yeah, I’ve seen some weird crap like that too. Not a full-on collapse, just bot behavior that looks kinda drunk — junk pages getting crawled, important stuff getting ignored for a bit, then a random burst like it suddenly remembered the site exists. Google’s been doing this on a couple of my affiliate sites off and on for months now, so I’m not exactly shocked anymore. Could be nothing, could be one of their usual “we’re fine” phases while the logs look like a dumpster fire. Just my experience.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen that too. Not a total disaster, just enough weirdness to make you start checking logs twice and wondering if Google’s half-asleep again. The junk URL crawling part is the annoying bit. That usually makes me think some crawl paths got “rediscovered” and then they just keep hammering garbage for a while instead of the stuff that actually matters. In my opinion,

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen it too, but I wouldn’t read too much into one ugly log stretch. The junk URL stuff is the part that bugs me most. Usually means something got “found” and Google keeps sniffing around it like an idiot for a while. At least from what I’ve seen.

ParticipantFrom my experience, technically, yeah, I’ve been seeing a bit of that too. Not enough to call it a meltdown, but enough to make you go “what the hell is it doing now?” The junk URL stuff is the part that keeps showing up for me. Googlebot gets weirdly fixated on trash, then acts like it forgot the money pages exist for a day or two. Classic nonsense.

ParticipantYeah, same here. Not a full-on disaster, just enough stupid little weirdness to make you squint at the logs. I’ve got one site where it keeps chewing through old junk params like it’s obsessed, then the actual pages I want crawled sit there collecting dust for a bit. Super annoying. Could be normal churn, could be Google doing its usual “we know better” routine. Hard to tell anymore. Could be wrong though.

ParticipantTo be fair, yeah, I’ve seen enough of that lately to not brush it off. The junk URL stuff is the annoying part. It’s like it gets stuck chewing on garbage for way too long, then suddenly remembers the pages that actually matter. Google being Google, basically. Not panicking over it yet, but it’s definitely not the clean crawl pattern I’d want to see. If it keeps going for another week or two, then I’d start poking at it more.

ParticipantIn my opinion, yeah, same vibe here. Not a full disaster, just enough weird junk crawling to make me side-eye the logs. I’ve seen it do this before and then settle down, but when it starts ignoring the pages that actually make money, it’s annoying as hell. Could be wrong though.

ParticipantTechnically, yeah, seeing bits of that too. Not enough to call it a broad issue, but the junk-param chewing has been annoying on a couple sites I watch. The part that bugs me more is the crawl bursts after a quiet spell — looks less like “healthy recrawl”…

ParticipantIn most cases, yeah, I’ve seen that pattern too. Not enough to scream “update” or whatever, but the junk URL chewing + weird recrawl bursts definitely looks off compared to the cleaner crawl traces I usually see.

ParticipantYeah, same here. Not enough to call it a full-on problem, but the junk URL stuff is definitely uglier than usual. What’s annoying is the recrawl timing — some pages sit forever, then it comes back in a stupid burst like it forgot the site existed. Not panicking yet, but I’m watching it. Honestly,

ParticipantRealistically, yeah, I’ve seen a bit of that too. Not enough to make me think “big issue,” but the junk URL crawling has been uglier than I’d like. The bursty recrawl thing is the part that feels off. Usually I just chalk this stuff up to Google being Google, but when it starts looking like it’s wasting time on garbage and then ignoring the pages you actually care about… yeah, that gets old fast. Wouldn’t be shocked if it settles back down in a week or two, but I’m not exactly trusting it either.

ParticipantRealistically, technically, yeah, I’m seeing a bit of that too, but I’m not ready to pretend it’s some huge event. The junk URL stuff is the part that bugs me most. When Google starts burning time on obvious garbage and then drags its feet on legit pages, it usually means the crawl path is getting messy somewhere, or it’s just in one of its stupid moods again. I’ve had a couple sites where the logs looked exactly like that and it never turned into anything dramatic — just annoying as hell for a week or so. Then other times it *did* line up with bad internal linking / parameter junk / duplicate paths getting too much attention, so I’m not totally dismissing it either. crawl_void saying “in most cases” is doing a lot of work there though. I’d want to see whether it’s actually the same crawl pattern across different site types or just a few noisy logs before calling it a trend.

ParticipantWell, yeah, I’ve seen a bit of that too. Not enough to call it a real issue yet, but the junk URL stuff is definitely uglier than usual. The bursty recrawl is the part that feels off to me. Could just be Google being weird for a stretch, but I’m not loving it either.

ParticipantSure. To be fair, yeah, a bit. Nothing dramatic, but the crawl looks kinda sloppy lately. I’ve got one site where Googlebot’s chewing through old junk like it’s on a mission, then acting allergic to updated pages. Classic Google nonsense, honestly.

ParticipantYeah, same here. Not enough to scream “update! I mean,” or whatever, but it’s definitely doing that annoying Google thing where the logs look drunk. The junk URL obsession is the part I hate most. Feels like it always finds some stupid trash path to waste time on, then the pages you actually care about get treated like they’re optional. Right…

ParticipantUsually, yeah, I’ve seen it enough to not dismiss it. Not a full-on collapse or anything, just that annoying pattern where Googlebot looks like it’s wandering around the worst parts of the site for no good reason. Junk URLs, parameter garbage, old paths that should’ve died ages ago… meanwhile the stuff you actually want recrawled sits there waiting. Feels like one of those periods where crawl allocation gets sloppy for a bit and everyone starts pretending it’s “normal variance.” in most cases it is. Still ugly in the logs. Could be wrong though.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve seen that pattern too. Not enough to call it a meltdown, but the crawl looks pretty sloppy and the junk URL obsession is annoying as hell.

ParticipantPersonally, Yeah, I’m seeing the same sort of junk-path crawl noise on a couple properties. Not panicking over it, but it’s not exactly comforting when the bot spends half its time sniffing dead URLs and then comes back to the important stuff later. Feels like one of those “Google’s doing Google things” stretches. Hard to tell if it’s a real shift or just the usual sloppy crawl allocation getting worse for a bit.

ParticipantYeah, same pattern here. Not panicking over it, but the junk URL stuff getting more attention than actual money pages is always a bad look. Feels like one of those “Google’s fine, your site is fine, ignore the logs” periods that somehow still ends with stale important pages. Hard to tell if it’s just noisy crawl allocation or something broader.
