In most cases, yeah, if GSC isn’t showing a crawl/indexing mess, I’d still lean site-side first. I’ve seen “random” drops turn out to be cache/minify/plugin weirdness more times than I care to admit. Especially if it’s only a couple pages that tanked first and then the rest followed.
